Hangin at the Park

This is our favorite park. We love it because it is really big and fenced in. And there isn't sand.

Austin really only likes to play at the park if there are other kids there. If we go and there isn't anyone there he asks to go home. Bennett is always content with me holding him or just staying in his car seat.

Miami Children's Museum

On Martin Luther King day I was able to go to the Miami Children's Museum with my friend Gina and her son Lucas. Lucas is Austin's best friend. They are little buddies. It is so fun to see them play together.

Austin loved the exhibit with the police motorcycle and the fire truck.

His favorite exhibit was the pirate area. There was a ship with a plank and a wheel to steer the ship. There was also sand with buried treasure. He also loved to walk on the bridge that swayed.

This is the teddy bear exhibit. The boys liked sitting at this little table together. It was really hard to get a good picture of both of them together. This is the best I could do. I took all these photos with my phone. That is why they aren't very crisp. Austin was running around all over the place. There were a lot of different things to do. I'm looking forward to going back again.

Funny Little King

I was at Joanns getting some felt for a project I was working on and I spotted some Christmas clearance stuff. I was looking through it and not really paying attention to what Austin was playing with and he said, "Look, I'm a King!" I turned and looked at him and this is what I saw. It surprised me so much and I burst out laughing. His little eyes were shifting behind the nut cracker mask. It was so funny.

We didn't end up buying it but I was really glad I was able to take a picture with my phone.

Home Depot Kids Workshop

The first Saturday of every month Home Depot has a Kids Workshop. It is for kids 5 and up but Austin can do the projects so they don't care that he is only three. He LOVES it! He loves to use the tools and build the project and then when he finishes they give him juice and a bag of chips. He usually wears his little home depot apron and for each project he completes they give him a different pin with a picture of the project. After the workshop we walk around the store. His favorite isle is still the PVC piping.

We accidentally forgot his project so we had to go back and try to get it back. His wasn't there but they did have a few extras that he was able to pick from. I don't think he knew the difference and he was really happy to have his "coin house" back.

Shopping Cart Expert

Bennett is my new little shopping cart expert (at sitting). I put him in the shopping cart seat at Walmart for the first time. It took me a really long time to get through the store because EVERYONE that saw him stopped and talked to me about it. They all thought he was a lot younger then he was. He is almost 8 months now and sitting like a pro. He loved being in the cart and it was a lot easier to shop with him in there instead of the bajorn or his seat perched on top of the cart.

Austin loved having all the kids here to visit. They really wore him out though. He fell asleep in his car seat coming home from the beach every time.

Sheppards and Nelsons visit Florida

The Nelson and the Sheppard family visited us in Florida. It was a lot of fun. We spent a lot of time at the beach.

Tiff took all these pictures at the beach. I love this one she got of Carter and Austin getting hit by a wave.

The first time we went to the beach I spent most of my time like this. The second time we went Jeff stayed home with Bennett and I just took Austin. It was so much fun. We were able to stay a lot longer and I went in the water and played with Austin.

It was really nice having our traditional New years meal of Pork and Sour crout and nadles. I was glad to have Tiff and Alycia there to help me.

I can't believe my baby got his first hair cut. Tiff and Alycia and Jeff finally convinced me to go through with it.

I love his little wisps of hair but it was time to make his hair all the same length.

Playing Together

As Bennett gets older I am seeing him and Austin interact a lot more. I have mixed feelings about it. I love to see them playing together and I think they will have so much fun once Bennett is a little older but I also think it is sad to see my little baby grow up so fast.

I came out of the bathroom and heard them both laughing. I looked in Bennett's pack-n-play. At first Bennett was happy and excited to have him there but then I think he had second thoughts.

Austin was playing with Bennett's hair in this picture. He was also tapping him on the nose and saying "Boop". Bennett was quite amused.

Kennington Christmas in Florida

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. We were sad that we were not able to spend Christmas with either of our parents but it was so nice to be able to just stay home and have a little Christmas of our own.

Austin was very excited when he woke up at 6am. He loved all his presents and he has been playing with them none stop. He even wants to sleep with his new toys.

Austin's done it again

Austin's done it again. He has managed to surprise me. I should be used to it by now. He's climbed the top shelf in his closet and he has flooded our apartment at 4 in the morning. He's used the cat litter box as a construction site. I don't know why I was so shocked to find him in Bennett's crib. Don't worry. Bennett wasn't in there. We had a major discussion about Austin staying out of the crib. He assured me he won't get into the crib again. Bennett won't be sleeping in his crib alone with Austin any time soon.

I'll give him this......he has good problem solving skills.

It Happened

Our cat Chloe fell off our balcony. We live on the second floor. Don't worry..she is fine. She was pretty freaked out though. Jeff and I heard her crying and we weren't sure where she was. He went outside and looked down from the balcony and she was on the ground. I was afraid she would take off running but she was so scared she just hunkered down where she fell. She has never really been outside. She didn't like it. At least she has learned from her mistake and doesn't lean out through the bars of the balcony anymore. You should have seen how fat her tail was!

Christmas Sugar Cookies

This is our elf, Austin named him "Elf". He goes to the north pole every night and tells Santa how Austin has behaved. When he comes back he hides in a new spot in the house. Our elf is not as mischievous because I don't need any extra messes to clean up.

I love making cookies. I was so excited to make cookies this year because Austin is old enough to be able to really participate. He helped me mix the dough and then he put sprinkles on all the cookies.

Just a little update

I haven't posted for awhile. I have been trying to get everyone back to our normal schedule since I got my wisdom teeth out. Getting my wisdom teeth out wasn't a great experience. I had to wait two hours in the waiting room before I went in and then I woke up during the procedure. It was very frightening and painful. But it is over and I am healing. I am just a little sore on the one side now. I got them out 11 days ago.

Bennett and Austin are sharing a room now. If Bennett is crying in the middle of the night and I come in their room to take him out Austin will sit up in bed and tell me to put him back. He really likes having his brother in his room. Bennett still takes naps in my room sometimes but for the most part they sleep together in one room. Bennett has also been doing better about sleeping longer stretches since we started him on rice cereal. He loves it. I have a video of him eating it for the first time but I still need to upload it.

Austin continues to get into mischief. He usually has no problem going to bed but lately he really tries everything he can think of to stay up. He is always saying really funny things too. Yesterday when we were walking into the library we saw a circus peanut on the ground covered by ants. Austin asked me what it was so I told him and explained that we couldn't eat it because it had ants on it and it was on the ground. On the way out of the library Austin saw the circus peanut again and he said "Look mommy a penis circus." I laughed really hard. Austin also loves to talk to the maintenance men when they are working on the grounds or in our apartment. He always goes and gets his tools and tells them what to do. Sometimes he speaks to them in spanish. I can't even believe it. I don't even know if he is making any sense because I don't know what he is saying.

In these pictures Austin is helping Jeff change the tire on the Jeep. We ran over a big screw. Luckily we had a full size tire instead of a spare and the tire that got damaged was really worn out anyway. Jeff isn't actually in the picture because he was asking the maintenance guys if they had a block of wood we could use for the jack. The jack wouldn't lift the jeep high enough to get the tire off. I'm so glad Jeff knows Spanish because they were able to help us.

Chloe has been getting a little more adventurous and curious about the balcony. She wanted to go out today so I let her. She likes to lean way out through the bars and it scares me.

A great activity for a busy boy

I saw this idea online somewhere with a little variation. So I decided to give it a try. I took a large tupperware container and I filled it with water and then I put a bunch of Austin's little toys in the water. I put the whole thing in the freezer and when it was completely frozen I took it out and put it out on the balcony with Austin and a hammer.

The first time he did this it took him a good while to get all the toys out. The second time I did this he hammered for awhile and then he sat there and stared at the ice block for a little wile. Then he picked up the tupperware and turned it upside down. He then picked up the entire ice block and held it above his head and threw it down on the concrete. You should have seen how pleased he was with himself for figuring it out. Then he just hammered the little pieces. I think Austin may have the "Knack"

Bennett is five months old now. I can't believe it has already been that long. He is a little cutie pie. His hair is getting lighter. He loves to make lots of sounds and laugh. He also loves to watch Austin and Chloe. He likes to be tickled and he loves it when his Daddy makes him Dance.

Trick or Treat

This is how Bennett spent most of his time during Trick or Treating and Trunk or Treating.I thought he would like being able to look around instead of facing me but he just looked at me the whole time anyway.

Austin had a blast at the Trunk or Treat at our church. It was raining so we had to have it inside. He also loved trick or treating. His favorite part was having people talk to him about his costume and having so many people ooing and awwing at him. He was a ham. He kept pretending to fly and saying blast off and making space ship sounds. He was adorable. He has been asking me to go trick or treating every day since Halloween. We went with our friends Gina and Tyson and Lucas. Austin loved walking around with his friend.

Brotherly Love

Austin is a good helper. He likes to help me with Bennett. He also likes to sing to Bennett and give him toys. The other day Austin told me that Bennett's socks fell off. I asked Austin if he wanted to put them on and he said yes. I knew he probably wouldn't be able to do it but it was really fun to watch.

After about a minute of trying really hard Austin looked at me and said "I think I need help...he keeps moving"

A few days ago we were in the car and Bennett was making all sorts of cute baby sounds. He was gibbering away for about two minutes straight. He stopped talking and I asked Austin if he knew what he was saying. Austin said yes and then I asked him what he said. Austin said "Hi" I laughed really hard. Apparently Hi in baby language takes a really long time to say.

Pumpkin Patch

Austin was really excited when we told him we were going to the pumpkin patch. He is used to going on a tractor ride out to the pumpkins and picking them himself. We are usually all bundled up because it is really chilly. This year was a little different. We laughed when we got there. The pumpkins were just sitting in a grassy area. They brought in straw and some "farm" equipment as they called it. I love that some of our pumpkin patch pictures has palm trees in the background.

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I've been putting a lot of time into my craft blog. I also taught a card making class at a Super Saturday for our church. Life in Florida is good. The weather is getting a lot nicer. Bennett is doing better sleeping at night and taking naps during the day. Austin still loves trains and tools and pretty much anything with a motor. Jeff works with the scouts and Young Men at church. He is teaching an orienteering map class. He will also get to go camping with them in a month or so. I have to be honest...I'm glad it's not me. The boys are great and I'm getting the hand of being a Mom of two boys. Here is what you are visiting my blog for:

Austin met a new friend. His name is Lucas. He is a few month younger then Austin but they play so well together. I am friends with his Parents too. We are really happy we met them. Austin asks to play with Lucas pretty much every day. They are so cute together.

While Austin was in his room "taking a nap" I heard him start to cry. I went in his room and couldn't find him. I looked under his bed and even in his dresser. I finally checked the closet and I could hear him but I couldn't see him. The closet was a mess. Then I looked up and saw this!

Jeff rigged up a way to keep the great climber out of the closet. So instead of trying to get into his closet this morning he spent his energy getting into the hall closet.

El Dorado Furniture Nightmare

It was a sunny Saturday morning. Jeff and I were laying in bed snuggling with Bennett. We were discussing our finances and if we thought we were ready to buy a new dinning room table. This was a big step for us. We had never bought any furniture new before. We usually just got second hand furniture from family or from craigslist.

We did some research on different companies in the area and read the reviews. We didn't see any red flags for any companies to stay away from so we headed out with the kids in toe. We went to a bunch of different furniture stores. We wanted to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. We were planning on having this table for a long time. The last place we stopped for the day was El Dorado. If I would have known then the events that were about to unfold I would have stayed in the Jeep and driven away as fast as I could.

The building was enormous! I'm not going to lie, it looked awesome. The furniture was displayed in a very cool way and they even had a little car shaped cart that Austin could ride in which was very handy. We looked through the whole store with our sales rep. There was a particular table that we saw that we were interested in. The sales rep told us that if we bought the floor model it would cost us $200 less. I was a little weary at first. I thought there had to be a catch. Why would you discount a beautiful piece of furniture that much if there wasn't anything wrong with it. I asked Rosa, the sales rep, if there was anything wrong with the finish or if there was a manufacturer defect. She assured me that none of their floor model furniture had anything wrong with it but the normal wear and tear from being on the floor.

We bought the table. It took 30 minutes for Rosa to type in our information into the computer. Her long fake nails kept hitting other keys and you could tell she was not familiar with a keyboard. I almost changed my mind during that process but I really liked the table and I just kept telling myself I wouldn't have to deal with Rosa again after we got the table.

The table was delievered a few days later. It looked beautiful. We washed it with the soft side of a sponge and we always used place mats when we ate anything at the table. Nothing was spilled on it and nothing scratched the table. On the fifth day of having the table I was wiping it down when I noticed something strange happening. The finish was rubbing off the top of the table. I couldn't believe it. I didn't know what was happening at first but as I kept rubbing it got worse. Jeff came home for lunch and looked at it and came to the same conclusion. We decided to call El Dorado to get it straightened out.

I called twice before I actually got to speak to anyone. I kept getting tranfered around to different departments and I was always told that I would get a call back. Then I was told to call back the next day because I had to do everything through my sales rep, Rosa. I called Rosa the next day and left two voice messages. I called a third time and she picked up and told me she would call me back. She never called me back. I called a few hours later and she told me there was nothing they could do because it was a floor model and they are sold as is. I tried to explain that there was something terribly wrong with the table, that there was a manufacturer defect and that it had nothing to do with the fact that it was a floor model. I even talked to the manager who told me that he could offer me 15% off a new table from the store and that was it. I asked the manager for the manufacturer's information so I could try to get the situation resolved through them and he said he could not give me that information.

I did some more research online to see if I could find someone else that could help me. I found an email address for customer service. I sent and email describing our problem along with a picture of the table. I got a response telling me another email address that I would need to send the email to along with the picture. I sent the email to the new email address they gave me. Then I waited for a few days and never heard back. I called and asked for customer service. I was put on hold for 15 minutes and then the call dropped. I called again and was transferred around until I finally got customer service. I asked what the status of the table situation was and they told me I would need to send an email. I explained that I already sent an email with a picture but he said he didn't receive it. I sent it again and received an email confirming they received it and that they would give me a call the next day. I never heard from them so I gave them a call and the customer service person Yoel, told me that he never got the email. I sent it AGAIN. He wrote me back and said there was nothing they could do because it was a floor model.

I was feeling very frustrated. I spent hours trying to get it resolved and had nothing to show for it. I called in a wood restoration specialist so see if we could get the top of the table fixed. It would cost us more to fix it then we paid for the entire set so we decided against going that route. The wood guy did however give us a quote with his description of the problem which included "manufacturing defect". He agreed that the finish was not cured properly.

After he left I loaded up the kids and drove to the furniture store with my new proof in hand. I spent 20 minutes waiting at the front of the store before they led me back to customer service. I spent another 30 minutes trying to get the customer service people to understand what was really going on. They finally agreed to email the pictures to the manufacturing company. I think they realized it was the only way I would leave. They kept telling me that they didn't think the manufacturer would do anything. I went home and took more pictures and sent them in. It took them five days to send the pictures. I called every day to remind them to send them. A week later they said they sent them. I called the next day and was told that the woman we were working with was on the phone with another customer but that she would call me back. She never did so I called again and was told the same thing. The next day she sent me an email and told me that she wasn't in the office yesterday.

She called me the next day and told me that the manufacturer agreed to replace the table. Hooray!!! They also told us that we only had 24 hours to come into the store to do the exchange or else the deal was off. Ok...weird but ok. We went in as soon as Jeff got off work. We paid the difference between the floor model table and the new one. We also paid for the delivery fee again.

They asked us if they could deliver the table tomorrow, Friday. We said yes and asked what time. They told us that the driver would call us Friday morning with a time frame. Friday around 11 I called because I hadn't heard anything. They told me that i wasn't on the schedule until Saturday. Ok fine. I asked when the driver was coming on Saturday and she said we were the second stop for the day so it would be in the morning and the driver would call us. 11 came on Saturday and we didn't hear anything so I called. She called the driver and told me 2-4. By 4:30 we hadn't heard anything so I called again and they told me that the table wasn't on the truck because we owed the balance but they would get it straighted out can call us back. I called back forty minutes later and they said it would be delivered by 6:00. 6:30 came and I called again and they said they would have it there by 8:00. I said I didn't believe them and they never called us, I was the only one trying to get it worked out. She assured me that she just spoke with the driver.

The driver never did call but we got our table delivered at 7:30 that evening. Thank goodness the nightmare is over. The table is beautiful but I still get a twinge of anger when I look at it. Hopefully with time I will be able to enjoy it.

I will never shop at El Dorado again. Everyone I worked with, even customer service were not helpful. They also did not speak English very well which made the entire process that much harder. They didn't know that Jeff speaks Spanish so we were able to hear what they were saying about us when they were speaking to each other in Spanish in front of us.

They were rude. They lied and they never followed through with anything they said they would do. This was the worst customer service experience I've ever had.

14 Weeks Old

Bennett is 14 weeks old. He is such a sweetie. He loves to look around and watch what Austin is doing.

Happy Birthday Austin

I can't believe my baby is 3.We were lucky this year to have Austin's birthday fall on Labor day. Jeff had off work so we were able to spend the entire day together as a family. Last night I decorated the apartment with balloons and streamers. I also wrapped his presents and made him a cake.

This is how we found the birthday boy this morning.

We got him a train table off craigslist. It came with a ton of tracks and trains and stations and other accessories. It also came with Diesel 10 which is what Austin asked for. He was really happy when he opened it first.

We marked his height on his growth chart. He was excited that he was as tall as the pickel.

5th Year Wedding Anniversary

Jeff and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary yesterday. Jeff got me 5 roses and took me out to a nice dinner on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale. It was really really good. It was really fun to get dressed up. It got really dark fast because we hit some traffic so I didn't get a lot of good pictures. I also forgot to get one of Jeff and me which made me sad because I had a new dress on. Oh well...better luck next year. Thank you everyone for all the well wishes.

Paparazzi

Austin is too smart for his own good. We love to read together every night before bed and he already has a lot of the books memorized. His favorite book right now is a book with different kinds of trucks in it. He can name almost every truck in the book. Check out this video to see.

My Sweetie Pie

Bennett is a joy. He is always smiling. He used to hate to have his diaper changed but now he loves it and he looks up at me and smiles and laughs the whole time. It makes me laugh and then he laughs more and then Austin laughs. It is so cute. He seems to like his bumbo chair. I started him off sitting in it for only a few minutes at a time. Now he will sit in it for about 20 minutes very happily.

Of course as soon as I get the camera out he is so mesmerized he stops smiling and just stares at me.

Out with the Old in with the New

We got our first piece of real furniture! It is a table that seats 6. It has a leaf that can come out and plenty of room. I am so excited to have people over for dinner. We invite people over about once a week and it was so awkward to put the food on the counter and then hardly be able to fit four plates on the table at the same time. I need to make a new table runner. I think mind might be a little to informal for my new table. To me the table looks fancy but to the people at the furniture store this table is considered informal. You should have seen all the ornate tables and chairs. I love my table. I can't wait to play dominoes and cards with my family when they come. We've loved our little kitchen table that Patty gave us and I will be keeping it and using as a craft table.

Bennett loves to make lots of little coos and gurgles. It is really cute. He loves it when I talk to him. When I took him to the doctor for his 8 week check up he was 10 pounds 11 ounces and 24 inches long. He is really long!

We got a new chair off craigslist. It is super comfy and Austin and I can fit comfortably on it together. My Mom made the quilt that is on the chair and I made the baby that is on the quilt :)

A walk to the Duck pond

In the evening about an hour before the sun goes down is a great time to go for a walk outside in Florida. We love to go for a walk around our neighborhood. There are always a lot of little lizards running around and the trees and different plants are so beautiful. There is a pond near our apartment that has a lot of ducks. We really like to bring pop corn or bread to feed them. Austin usually runs after them but they always come back for more.

6 Weeks

Bennett is 6 weeks old today. He is just a joy. He is a total mama's boy. He smiles when I talk to him and he likes it when Austin gives him kisses...most of the time:) Bennett is already wearing 0-3 month cloths. I can't believe how big his is already. He still has skinny little legs though. He isn't chubby at all. He's got big wide eyes and he still has a lot of hair.

I apologize for how long it's taken me to get pictures of our new place. I really do love my apartment. It is really nice and I feel like we fit really well here. There is plenty of storage and the rooms are nice and big. I love the pool which I still need to get a picture of. I am excited to do something fun with our balcony as well. some of the rooms still need some decorating help but we haven't been here that long. Sorry about some of the mess but I couldn't keep the whole house clean at one time :)

Florida

I have to admit when I first moved here I hated it. I just kept thinking "I want to go home." My legs are covered in mosquitoe bits...my hair is so frizzy I look like I stuck my finger in an electrical outlet...the majority of the surrounding community speaks spanish (I don't speak spanish). The list goes on and on. But now that I've had time to settle in there are some really great things about Florida. To help me settle in even more I thought it would be healthy to make a list of things I like about Florida. So here it is:

The Pool. We have a beautiful community pool that is really close but not too close that I have to worry about Austin getting into it without me knowing.

Lots of family oriented things to do. There are a ton of things to do and see here! I think it will really be a lot of fun once Bennett is old enough to do some things.

Ikea. There is an Ikea here about 30 minutes away. We've already been there twice and I love it. What I wouldn't give for a few hours alone in that store.

I love my beautiful apartment. It is bigger then my other apartment and it is newer. I have crown molding!

Gym. My apartment complex has a gym included and they offer exercise classes. I'm really excited and nervous but I want to get started soon.

The plants. There are so many beautiful exotic looking plants. I'm having fun planning what plants to put in my apartment and also on our balcony.

The balcony. I have a nice big balcony that Austin can play on. I am right there the whole time but it is nice to be able to leave the baby inside and have him outside at the same time.

Close shopping. There are a lot of close shops. I am excited for cooler weather because the boys and I will be able to walk. I got a double stroller on craigslist.

The beach. I live 30 minutes from a beach. White sand...clear aqua blue water. Jealous? :)

Another great thing about Florida is all the opportunity I will have to share my faith with others.

I am putting the finishing touches on the apartment so I'll be sure to post pictures soon.

I love it when Austin is sweet to Bennett. Sometimes he gets a little jealous of the attention he gets but for the most part he is a great big brother. Austin often asks to "hold the brother." He also loves to lay next to him and give him his binki or other toys.

Bennett was blessed on Sunday June 26, 2011 in the West Lafayette 2nd Ward. It was a beautiful day and the only thing that could have made it better would have been to have had more family there. For those of you who couldn't be there I have posted the blessing here along with the pictures.

Moving to Florida

In case you haven't heard the Indiana Kenningtons will now be the Florida Kenningtons. We are moving to Florida! Jeff got a jog at Heartware in Miami Lakes. It is near Fort Lauderdale. We are excited about our new adventure. Austin is ecstatic about living near the beach and having a pool to go swimming in. We will be renting for a bit until we get a feel for the area and find a house we want to buy. Our apartment has a community pool. Jeff's brother Conrad and Mom are coming to help us move. They will also get to see Bennett's blessing this Sunday. It may be awhile before I post more pictures of the kids. We've been a little busy :)

Bennett weighed 8 pounds 5 oz at his 2 week check up. He is doing well and I am completely smitten :)

First Bath

We gave Bennett his first bath the day after we brought him home from the hospital. He didn't enjoy it very much but I loved washing all his hair :) Austin was a good little helper. He got all the supplies before we got started and he handed me things I needed. He also tried to console Bennett during the bath.

Helicopter

On the way home from visiting us in the hospital Austin and my Mom got to see the helicopter at the hospital. Austin was really excited and the medic was really nice to him. They even let him walk around inside and sit in the seats. He still talks about it.

Bringing Bennett Home

We were very eager to leave the hospital and get home. We missed Austin and we were ready to settle into a routine. Austin was very happy to have us home. I wanted him to wear the beautiful hat Laurel made for him but once we got outside we realized it was 90 degrees. It was also storming. There were tornadoes and severe thunder storms. We beat the storm home and we were lucky to not have any tornadoes in our county.

He is doing very well with Bennett. He likes to help change his diaper and brings him his binkis. Bennett doesn't really take a binki. He also always sneezes after he is done nursing. We got him to nurse every two hours now instead of every hour. Last night between nursing he slept in his bassinet. He is already almost back to his birth weight. Everything is going well.

Brothers First Meeting

I apologize for being behind on my blogging. I've been a little busy :) My Mom watched Austin for us while we were in the hospital. The day after Bennett was born she brought Austin to the hospital to meet him. Austin was very good about it. He patted my belly after he saw him and said "Bennett's empty". We got Austin a train and told him it was from Bennett. He tried to share the train with him but he wasn't interested. It offended Austin a little but he had fun holding him. He loves to kiss him and hold him and when Bennett cries he tries to sooth him. I love my little boys!

Farewell Dinesh

This is Dinesh. Jeff and him started doing some work together through Purdue two years ago. Since then we have become good friends. Austin loves Dinesh and asks about him every day. Dinesh lets Austin play with his Iphone which Austin is captivated by. Dinesh finished his PHD at Purdue and is moving on to bigger and better things. Hopefully he will be able to find a job in the USA so he can stay here. We had to say goodbye to Dinesh on Wed. We met him for lunch and then he took Austin to get some Red Mango frozen yogurt. Austin was really happy to have kiwi's in his frozen yogurt. We will miss Dinesh.

Awhile ago Austin and Grandpa Kennington (Clint) were skyping on the laptop. Austin started making this really weird funny face and when we asked him what his face was he said "Thats a Gimpa face." Clint said "Gimpa...whats a Gimpa." I think Austin mean grandpa. He can say grandma but for some reason he says gimpa instead of Grandpa. I have been trying to get the Gimpa face captured on camera since the event. I finally did it!

Sunday Best

I found this little suit at a yard sale last summer. Austin wore it a couple of times. I never remembered to get a picture. This year he has worn it a few times and this Sunday I decided it was too small for him to wear again so before church I took some pictures. I may still use the suit coat because it still fits him. It was Jeff's idea to pull his socks up right before I took the picture.

He is looking for a pine cone bird feeder we made at the garden extravaganza in Lafayette.

My friend Megan and I swapped babysitting so we could go to our church youth fund-raiser. Austin and Madden had a blast together. Austin loved having someone there to boss around..I mean play with :) Austin found a tub for his trains and put his blankie under it and started jumping off of it. With some encouragement Madden joined it. They were laughing and running around and we thought it was really cute.

We got to color easter eggs this year with Austin. He really enjoyed it. I think he favorite part was not having to wear cloths.

Austin decorated the egg carton with the stickers that came in the egg coloring kit box.

After we finished coloring the eggs Austin wanted to play with them. He would put them in their egg crate and have them talk to each other. It was really funny. They were his new favorite toys. He enjoyed eating them as well.

Today the Easter Bunny Came and he brought Austin some candy and sidewalk chalk. Austin was really excited and the Jelly Beans were his favorite treat in his basket.

This is the bow-tie I made for Austin. When I showed Jeff he said "I don't think it's big enough." Har har! I think it looked really cute and Austin liked wearing it.

Jeff is 27 years old. His birthday was yesterday but I didn't get a chance to post pictures. Instead of a cake Jeff wanted some lemon meringue pie. There is another pie crust waiting to be filled :) I'm sure Jeff is happy about that. I got Jeff a Sheldon Cooper shirt from Big Bang Theory. He wasn't expecting anything because he got an air compressor a few weeks ago for his birthday/graduation. It was a great day.

Go Outside

Austin wants to spend every minute of the day outside. Rain or shine he asks to go outside. He loves to wander around the yard and look for bugs.

He also rides his bike a lot. GG and Pap Pap gave him that bike for Easter last year. He still can't reach the peddles but he is fast. He just uses his feet to push himself along.

He also loves to put things in the compartment under the seat. We find all sorts of things in there. Currently there are two large rocks. You'd think they'd slow him down but they don't.

Great Customer Service

A few weeks ago my dear husband accidentally broke my quilting ruler. It had fallen off of my sewing table and part of it was laying on the ground and the other part of it was laying on top of a toy. He did not see it when he was putting my sewing table away for me and he stepped on it and snapped the corner off. I knew it wasn't his fault but I was really sad. I'm really frugal and I hate buying things that I already owned. I noticed on the Fiskars website that all their products have a lifetime warranty. I followed the customer service instructions which was to send an email describing the product and I included a picture of my broken ruler. They are sending me one to replace it for FREE! I am so pleased! I will definitely be purchasing Fiskars products in the future.

Things you might not know about Austin

Austin is a funny little guy. He does a lot of strange things and I thought I'd write some of them down. So here are some things you might not know about Austin.

1. He is two and a half and he is finally wearing 2T cloths.
2. Austin loves prunes. He asks me for one almost every day.
3. He likes to put the dishwasher finish tablet into the dishwasher.
4. He calls excavators Snort. He got that from the book "Are you my mother"
5. Austin loves to be outside.
6. He has added the word "needs" to his vocabulary. Some of his "needs" include....dirt....a good tacco....french fries...a new teddy bear...pizza...baths...buzzer...tools...pennies...chocolate milk...train books.
7. Austin can count to 10
8. He can use the potty
9. He likes to color but he is picky about his medium. He prefers paints and markers.
10. Austin loves to feel baby Bennett kick.
11. He likes to boss our cat Chloe around.
12. Austin is obsessed with trains, planes, vehicles, construction equipment, farm equipment, garbage trucks and tools.
13. Sometimes when I am singing he tells me to "turn it off"
14. He loves baths and showers.
15. He likes to help do the dishes which is just another way to play in water.

Our Little Visitor

Austin was concerned about what the birds outside were going to eat. I told him we could leave some bread for them. Jeff and Austin put a bunch of bread pieces on our balcony a few days ago. We forgot about them and then I heard a munching sound. I looked out and saw this little guy. He was enjoying the bread that Austin left for the birds. Austin was really excited about him eating the bread. He stayed for awhile even though the sliding door was open and Austin kept trying to scare him by yelling "Boo".

Austin is Potty Trained

I didn't think this day would come but we've done it. Austin uses the potty now. He only wears pull-ups when he is taking his nap and sleeping at night. He loves sitting on the big toilet with his potty adapter. He is a pro toilet flusher and hand washer. We are still giving him lolly Pops when he uses the potty and he has finally mastered wearing underwear. We went out our first outing today and he didn't have any accidents while we were out. He is growing up so fast and I'm so glad I followed my Mom's advice to get this done before baby #2 arrives. Thanks for the motivation and support Mom!

Jeff must have taken it while I was teaching my cake class. I thought is was cute. I am so happy that the snow is melted and the sun is shining. Austin and I played outside today and it was so nice. He loves to dig in the dirt. He told me he wanted to plant the leaves so he stuck one into this broken pot. The pot is our managers. It broke during the winter. Austin thinks of it as his personal dirt box. He needs a dirt pile or a sandbox.

Best Buds

Austin and our cat Chloe are really good friends. She has been such a great cat. She plays with Austin and tolerates a lot of rough play from him. Sometimes she is a partner in crime too. Austin knows that my craft table is off limits but sometimes he will go over and start looking at all my craft stuff. Without fail Chloe goes over and starts knocking stuff off the table onto the floor so he can get it. Sometimes I think Chloe is harsher to Austin then she is to him. She likes to sit on the arm of our couch and then when Austin walks by she will smack him in the head. He loves it and always laughs. Austin also loves to boss her around. He is always telling her to get down or not to touch his toys. She usually just ignores him or purposely drags his toy off so he has to chase her. I wish I could get more videos of them playing. Usually when I get the camera out he stops what he is doing and starts hamming it up for the camera. These are what I managed to get one day.

Austin has been asking for a cheeseburger and french fries for about a week. I finally broke down and took him to McDonalds for lunch yesterday. We were sitting there enjoying our meal and he kept staring at a table of 4 senior citizens. They were about 72 years old. They had all met there to eat lunch. He looked at them for about 15 minutes and then he pointed at them. I asked him what he was looking at and he said "I like those kids" They heard him at the other table and started to laugh. Sometimes he surprises me with the things he says.

Last Basic Cake Decorating Class

In February I had my last Basic Cake Decorating Class. I had 12 students and it was a wonderful class. All the students were energetic and very talented. I'm sad I won't be teaching it again anytime soon but I know it will be better for me and my family to give them my full attention when Baby comes.

Climber

One of Austin's favorite things to do is climb onto the couch and then onto the file cabinet. Then he jumps from the file cabinet onto the couch. It keeps him busy for a long time but every time he is about to jump he wants me to watch. Sometimes after he lands on the couch he says "Awesome" or "Whoa". Hopefully he'll just stick to jumping onto the couch. I don't want to see him try to jump off the table or the counter or my washer or dryer or our bed.

Austin changed his diaper during his nap. Luckily it was only pee but then he decided to put Bag Balm on himself. I guess he felt like the rest of his room needed bag balm as well. He smeared an ENTIRE container all over EVERYTHING!!! His small little fingers got every last glob out of the jar. My eye is still twitching!!! I scrapped as much of it off everything as I could and then I ran hot hot hot water over things I could. I've found a way to get the rest out but it of course is a 10 step process. I'm trying to look on the bright side....he didn't eat any or put it in his hair and he didn't get into my fabric stash bin and my hands are really soft from scrubbing it off everything for the last hour.

We are really excited that we are having another boy. We have all the clothes and they can share a room. I hope they have fun playing together...eventually. The ultrasound went great. Austin didn't really care what was going on. At first he was worried we were there for him but then he realized it was my appointment. He patted my arm and said "It's ok Mommy." Then when we saw the baby he just stared at the screen. The baby kept his little hand up near his face. I wonder if he will be a binki baby. When we left he said "Thank you Much." I can't wait to see my new baby boy. We are leaning towards the name Bennett William Kennington.

Big Boy Bed

His face looks shiny because I put lotion on it right before bed.

It finally happened. Austin started trying to climb out of his crib. I was hoping to keep him in there as long as I could but the time has come and he is ready. We have a crib that converts into a toddler bed. We asked Austin if he wanted to sleep in his crib or a big boy bed and he excitedly told us a big boy bed like Gavin. So we switched the bed in the morning. For his nap he cried for an hour and then fell asleep on the floor. The next day he stayed quiet in his room for two hours but never slept and then today he played for a little bit then slept in his bed for his nap. He has been doing great at night. After we read books and say a prayer he climbs in without a fuss and lays down. Then he doesn't get out. He has been sleeping in longer too. I don't think it could be going any smoother. And thanks again Patty for the beautiful quilt and Rachel for the caterpillar. Austin loves them both.

Christmas in Texas

This year we were fortunate enough to be able to drive to Texas to see my whole family. It was a great visit. We went to the stock yard and we also went to Babes. We did some shopping and of course had a blast singing Christmas carols and playing a ton of games. Jeff fixed just about everyone's computer. We were sad to leave but we got a treat on the way home. We got to stay with our friends from college, Rob and Lisa. They live just north of Nashville. We actually stayed with them on the way down to Texas and on the way back. They smoked us in hand and foot and we had a lot of fun catching up with them. Austin still asks about everyone. I think he misses playing with his cousins. My sister Tiffany took all these pictures. I forgot my camera in Indiana so I just used some of the pictures she took. If you want to see more pictures from Christmas you can look at Dane, Alycia, Tiff and Nay's blogs. We have been getting our fair share of snow this year. I don't mind the snow but it has been too cold to even go outside until yesterday. Jeff took Austin outside and shoveled a little portion so Austin could walk through. Austin wanted me to take a picture of him kicking the snow. He really liked playing in it and being outside.

Jeff told me about a Gingerbread house that was set up on the Purdue campus in one of the buildings. He told me it was really big and we should take Austin to go see it. I wasn't expecting it to be as big as it was. It could fit a few people inside and it had two windows and a dog house with a dog and a cat and two trees in the front. It also had a little gingerbread family. Austin was so excited when he saw it. It was tough keeping him from pulling the candy off.

Toy Story

We got Austin Toy Story 3 when it was on sale during Black Friday. He wants to watch it every minute of every day. He is obsessed. His favorite character is Buzz Light year. Since watching Toy Story Austin has started talking to his toys...mostly when he is by himself in his room. He also loves the end of the movie when You've got a friend in me is played with spanish lyrics. He likes to dance and jump. When he was watching the movie I looked over and he had rolled his car over and used it to sit on. I thought it was really funny so I took a picture.

Cheese

Austin loves to have his picture taken. When he sees me get my camera out he starts posing and he says cheese. He wanted me to take pictures of him in his new shirt with his pony. These are the only pictures I took on Thanksgiving unfortunately. We had some friends over and we had so much fun visiting we didn't get any pictures. It was a nice day and Austin loved spending time with Sarah and Earl.

yogurt beard

Austin loves yogurt. He asks for it every day. He used to eat it with his hands which didn't work out very well. Then he upgraded to a spoon and he's been doing pretty well at that. Now he started tipping it back like a cup and drinking it.

Bunny Ears

Lately Austin has been putting on these bunny ears. I think he found them in his toy basket. He also loves to put them on Jeff. He was bouncing around on the couch and I looked over and he had put the bunny ears on this way. I thought it was really funny. You can also see that Jeff and I gave him a hair cut. He used to love to get his hair cut but now he hates it. He cried the entire time and I had to hold him. Thank goodness we didn't take him anywhere, that would have been embarrassing. I think Jeff did a pretty good job considering Austin spent the entire time with his head buried in my chest. I posted the side of his head pictures so you can see his hair. I think he looks handsome but I like his hair longer.
