2nd Year Anniversary

Today is our Second year anniversary. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. If you would have asked me two years ago at my wedding if I thought I would be expecting a baby on my second year anniversary I would have laughed but here we are with 13 days left to go. Jeff surprised me with a new removable shower head. I accidentally found it in the closet while I was putting something away and I was really sad that I saw it. So this morning I got to use the new shower head with awesome pressure and then I found roses and candy on my pillow. He finally surprised me. Usually both of us are too excited to wait until the day comes or we accidentally find out and it spoils it. I was really excited. Later we are going out to eat and to a movie. The day has already been wonderful.

Settlers Board

Jeff got a new tool so he decided to use it to make a settlers of Catan game board. It was inspired by an idea that our friends told us about. Our friends, the Heins, introduced us to the game and they said one of their friends had made a wooden board so the game board could fit in without moving all around. We've already used it and we really like it a lot. It keeps the board together while we play. I think it will really com in handy once our kids get older because they won't be able to destroy the board while we are in the middle of a game.

A for Effort

So a few months ago I decided that I was sick of the loaf of bread getting stale and then going to waste. I thought I would solve this problems by making my own homemade bread. Surely Jeff would eat homemade bread and it would be easier to just make up a batch when we ran out. Well it's been four months and I still can't really make bread. I've had friends and family suggest to just get a bread maker. I think now it's a matter of stubborness. Sure I want a bread maker but I also want to figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong. I've tried lowering the temperature of the water so it doesn't kill the yeast. I've tried adding less flour and adding glutin. I've tried letting it rise longer. I've tried three different recipes. The best one was my sister Tiffany's by the way. The recipe is on her blog. The link is to the right. My next attempt I will use dough enhancer and we will see if that does the trick. I've never had so many failed attempts to bake something in my life. Jeff is pretty good about it and even ate a piece in front of me this morning but I could see the suffering in his eyes and he swallowed the dense semi soft piece of "bread". Then he tried his best to comfort my failed attempts. "Just think, there are enough people that aren't good at making bread, that someone invented a bread making machine." I wonder if these other people have a club I could join. Don't be surprised if you get a bread making update in two weeks. I will not fail again.

Baby Update

I had a doctor appointment today. Everything went really well. My blood pressure was 113/78 and I'm measuring right on. He also felt the baby's head where it should be. At my 21 week apointment he was still breach so he has since turned. Next week he will test for strep B and check to see if I am dialated or effaced.

Camping and Mesa Falls

This weekend we went camping with our friends Rick and Nellie, their five kids and Lyndsey and Mike. We had a great time and we got to go to Mesa Falls and got some good pictures. Jeff took the pictures because I was too busy slowly climbing the stairs which were hard for me being 35 weeks pregnant.

An Update

Well my biggest news is that I'm still pregnant with 6 weeks left to go, woohoo. I'm not itching for the baby to be out just yet. It's been really nice to have things slow down here so I can really take everything in and get things ready. We only have a few more things left to get and for the most part the nursery is done. We cleaned out the closet and organized Austin's cloths and washed some of his things in Dreft so they will be nice and soft. Instead of sticking everything on the changing table I organized everything and put them into baskets. The local craft store, porters was having a 50% off sale on baskets so I bought three. Jeff even helped me pick them out. I also started a baby blanket. Really it was just something to do while I'm at work. I made it too wide so I had to go back and get more yarn. It will probably be bigger than I wanted it to but I'm too lazy to pull out all the yarn and start over. Another project Jeff and I have been doing together is painting wooden toys. Jeff saw them at walmart and so we got a few. He couldn't decide which ones were the coolest so we got a bunch. There are two left to paint but I needed something to post so here are the ones we've painted so far. Jeff even painted the bottom of the plane blue so when the enemy looks up into the sky they don't see the plane as easily.

Oh and there is one more update. It took me two years to finally listen to both my genious older sisters but I made a month calandar of all my dinners. Jeff helped me type up everything I know how to make on a spreadsheet and the cookbook and page number it is under and then we printed a calandar and assigned meals to different days. I gave myself two really easy meals a week and I left lunches open for leftovers. It has already saved us a bunch of money because we haven't had to buy as much groceries. I love it because picking what to make for dinner is the hardest decision of my day. Thanks lee and Tiff, it's been awesome. I will probably do September early and even cook some of the stuff and freeze it in preparation for the baby.
