Just Like Dad

Austin is always so excited when Jeff comes home. He stops whatever he is doing and runs over to him and gives him a hug. He also likes to do whatever Jeff is doing. Jeff was working on homework and I was picking up around the apartment and I looked over and Austin was carrying his notebook and pencil over to the couch. He needed help getting set up but he was thrilled to be doing homework just like Dad.

Naples Florida

Jeff had the opportunity to speak at the ASME 2010 Summer Bioengineering Conference. Austin and I were lucky enough to be able to go with him. We stayed at the Naples Grand Hotel. They had a crib for us to use and we spent most of our time in the pool and on the beach. The hotel had a private beach with tram cars that ran from the hotel right up to the sand. Austin loved riding on the tram. I kept thinking of when I used to go to the Jersey Shore and on the boardwalk there would be large cars and when they would go by the operator would say "Watch the tram cars please". This was Austin's first time at the beach and Jeff's first time in FL so it was really fun to watch them explore the ocean. We got to see a lot of fish and crabs and even a turtle. Austin had no fear which scared me because he would just run right into the water and keep going even if he couldn't reach.

We also had the opportunity to spend some time with Dr. Rodefeld and Libby. He is working with Jeff on the project. He invited us to his family's condo and we went swimming. It was really nice to have the pool all to ourselves. They also took us to a restaurant that was closer to downtown Naples and it was right on the water. It was a lot of fun. Austin enjoyed using the crab claw to eat his melons.

Cumberland Park

My friends Holly and Jessica and I took our kids to Cumberland park this week. They had a lot of fun playing at the playground. Then we went over to the section of the park that has a small zoo. I was really impressed. They had bald eagles, monkeys, really big turtles, otters and a few more animals. It was free to get in and there was also some water features that the kids were allowed to play in. I could hardly finish putting Austin's swim trunks on before he took off for the water. He ran right up to the elephant and stuck his head under where the water was coming out. He had a blast. I forgot my camera but Jessica was kind enough to take pictures of Austin for me. She did a great job. She actually has a photography site you should check out.

Playing in the Entertainment Center

Now you see them...

Now you don't

This really is an entertainment center.

And their off. It was fun while it lasted. I think it is funny that Austin fits inside so well but Brielle has to fold herself in half to fit. She is a head taller then Austin and they are only a month apart in age.
